IBM TO SELL XML-RUN FOR
WEBSPHERE WORLDWIDE
IBM EMBRACES NEW
XML SMART CLIENT TECHNOLOGY FOR WEBSPHERE
END-TO-END SOLUTIONS ON
PERVASIVE DEVICES
Dallas, TX—April 8, 2002—Willow Technology today
announces a remarketing agreement with IBM (NYSE: IBM) under which IBM is
to sell XML-Run for WebSphere worldwide.
XML-Run for WebSphere is special packaging of the
XML-Run product family created by Willow, specifically targeted to the
WebSphere customer. It is
based on the XML-Run mobile application development and deployment suite
developed by Eliad Technologies, Inc.
Willow distributes and provides technical support, training and
other services for Eliad's XML-Run products.
XML-Run is a smart client technology based
on XML and Java that integrates pervasive devices (PDAs and phones),
notebooks and desktops with back-end business functions.
Applications
and services built using XML-Run can run on connected, disconnected or
intermittently connected devices. The
easy-to-use XML-Run development and deployment tools reduce the time to
prototype, develop and maintain complex mobile and desktop applications
and services. Furthermore,
large portions of applications can be quickly developed by staff with
limited programming experience, with advanced Java programmers only needed
for implementing specialized functions, further enhancing the user’s
return on investment.
XML-Run for WebSphere fully integrates with
WebSphere Application Server, MQSeries Everyplace, WebSphere DB2
Everyplace and supports WebSphere Micro Environment runtimes and Eclipse
tools.
The XML-Run family of products consists of:
-
XML-Run Client – Java front-end engine to display XML forms and process
events.
-
XML-Run Server – Java servlet to send/receive XML to/from the device or
desktop. Supports WSDL, SOAP and UDDI.
-
XML-Run Designer – RAD tool, written in Java, to create interactive XML
interfaces (layouts, scripts and data connections) with flexible
deployment models (thin/thick client, applet, connected/disconnected
operation)
"XML-Run
is a groundbreaking solution in rapid development and deployment of
enterprise class applications to a wide variety of devices," said Gary
Clueit, CEO of Willow Technology, "and Eliad has achieved a significant
level of integration with core IBM technologies out of the box."
According to Madalina Stroe, CEO of Eliad
Technologies,"IBM's decision to offer XML-Run for WebSphere is a
strategic step in expanding business applications and services to
pervasive devices using integrated solutions.
Eliad is committed to further integration with WebSphere
components, while continuing to embrace new open standards as they
emerge."
Pricing and
Availability
Pricing starts at $25,500 for a single Designer,
Server and 100 Client licenses. Prices include 12 months software
maintenance and 7x24 support. Customers
will be able to order XML-Run for WebSphere components through their local
IBM sales office after April 16, 2002, or directly from Willow.
